A quick scan involves an investigation that quickly provides information about the characteristics of the underground at a particular location. This provides an initial indication of the presence of geological layers with potential for energy storage or other geothermal applications such as green electricity.

This is a quick way of getting either a green light or a red light for your project idea. If the light is green, the next step is to commission a feasibility study, which analyses the suitability of the geological layers that appear to be of interest, the financial and legal aspects, and the way the geothermal heating system would fit into an overall energy plan.
